Final Project: Vent & Rant.

Planning for a final group project is no easy task. First, the initial getting to know one another has to happen in order to establish a good group dynamic. Due to some family issues I had earlier in the semester, I didn’t get to really bond with my team like I would have hoped to. This is okay, though, as my two group members are awesome and highly skilled people.

Then we had to move onto planning and brainstorming a project. This is hard because none of us have any sort of coding experience of any sort. None of of us have made a game before, of any sort, and we are worried how this is going to affect our experience in completing this project, at least with something of quality.
There is a possible opportunity to go to Molokai, of which I hope will actually happen. It would make the project slightly different and have a clearer direction than us simply coming up with something from scratch. I actually like that possibility for that reason. Coming up with a project from nothing, at the moment, is extremely challenging.
Thankfully we have begun the brainstorming process early. I don’t think we need to have our proposal ready for another month, so it’s good to get ideas out there and get them flowing now. We like the idea of using ARIS and utilizing the GPS navigation and map of Honolulu. One idea that was thrown out was that we use our unique backgrounds as the content. I like this because I’ve been wanting to do something regarding my interest in restaurants or a corporate setting for informal learning environments.
Overall, I’m admittedly pretty nervous about this project. I feel slightly overwhelmed with it all, and am not sure how I am going to be able to perform and contribute. I can honestly say I feel a bit lost compared to last year’s final project, in which I was able to make a pretty sweet prison in Minecraft. That one felt slightly easier in terms of how I put in time and work. This one, I am not sure at this point. Hope time will tell me how to move forward. Until then, I’ll keep communicating and dialoguing with my teammates.
Now I’m going to go play video games for this class. I swear, it’s for research purposes.
